Our Vision

EMPOWER

Peace at Home advocates work each day to empower and walk along survivors of family violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking. Our vision for the event is showcase dance and vocal performances by local people who are dedicated to empowering others and celebrating our collective strength, confidence and resilience.

Dance and music are universal forms of healing that often allow us to witness the beauty of other cultures. Many cultures use dance and music as a form of storytelling, empowerment, connection and expression. We feel honored to be able to host a show and invite others to participate with us.

Our Story

This event was founded in 2012 by Board Member and dance instructor Valeria Ball. Board and staff have grown the event from a competition between two teams performing the same dance for 150 guests, raising $16,000 for vital services.
We have evolved over time to include diverse dance styles, performers of different ages and talented vocalists. We want to acknowledge the support of our performers from the very beginning as they made our dreams come true. Over the past 10 years, 176 dancers have committed their time and financial resources to help raise over $500,000. Event sponsors have also been an integral part of the events success and sustaining services in Douglas County.
We are excited to host our very first EMPOWER Dance & Vocals Performance, Saturday, February 11, 2023. The board and staff are passionate about helping survivors seek safety, each day Peace at Home advocates empower and walk along survivors of family violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking. Our vision for the event is showcase dance and vocal performances by local people who are dedicated to empowering others and celebrating our collective strength, confidence and resilience.
